Welcome to T-Alerts
Know before you go, with T-Alerts
Receive instant notification of delays on your designated service.
Here’s how:
-
Just select the days of the week and times of day on the specified lines you
typically travel.
-
You'll be notified of delays that are 15 minutes or more.
-
Receive T-Alerts via your e-mail capable desktop computer, cellular phone,
pager, or personal digital assistant (PDA).
You spoke, we listened!
A special thank you to more than 3200 volunteers who participated in
the T-Alerts pilot test. After collecting feedback from the participants, we
made important changes including:
-
Discontinuance of the message stating:
"service on or near schedule".
T-Alert pilot users identified this as not being useful for them. If fact, the
discontinuance of these alerts greatly reduced the number of alerts users get,
there by eliminating another key complaint that they were receiving too many
T-Alerts.
-
Abbreviated line names and shorter
messages.
MBTA staff has shortened the message so they will fit the space available on
most cell phones. Also, because the names of some lines and modes are long, it
was suggested that abbreviated terms be used. For example
"Middleborough/Lakeville" has become "Middle/Lake".
-
Use Subject heading to indicate the
line.
Instead of "T-Alert Notification", the subject should include the line name to
identify what the alert is before the subscriber has to open the email or read
the text of the entire message. For example, the subject of an alert for Bus
101 will be "Bus 101 Alert".
-
Mattapan Trolley is moved to a separate
category.
By enabling subscribers to sign up for the Mattapan Trolley separately from the
Red Line, those who do not desire Red Line alerts, will not receive them.
Please note:
-
Text message capabilities are limited to the first 160 characters, due
to storage limitations on cellular phones. Please check MBTA.com for detailed
T-Alert information.
-
Your internet service provider or
pager/cellular carrier may charge a “per-message” fee. It is strongly
recommended that you contact your service provider BEFORE subscribing to
T-Alerts.
-
You may cancel your subscription or
change your personal preferences at any time.
-
We will not sell or give your e-mail
address to any outside entity. See
Privacy Policy for details
